Could yoga help to improve your race performance?

Brixham Gig Club's big double-bill weekend is nearly here, with Vets Championships on 3rd August and Regatta on 4th, and for all the clubs attending on the Sunday we will be offering an early 20 minute yoga session at 9.15. This will include sun salutations and deep stretching to warm up the body and calm the mind for the day ahead. £3 each. Also throughout the day Emily will be offering 15 minute massage sessions at £5 each. She will be using aromatic and CBD-infused massage oils along with some deep tissue massage techniques to help target any problem areas and relax aching muscles. For more information about Emily, go to her website at

People who row together, stay together.

Mostly. Which is why we love a club wedding. On behalf of everyone at Brixham Gig Club, we would like to send our love and best wishes to Tracy and Craig on their big day today. You are a fab couple and we're sure you will have very many happy days to come, both in and out of a boat.

Newly qualified boat-builder

Jodie has succesfully completed her course on wooden boat restoration at the Lyme Regis Boat Building Academy. Jodie said she has learnt a lot of new skills, and the course has renewed her enthusiasm for maintenance and repair work. She extends her thanks to the Committee for agreeing to fund the course and is confident that broken blades will no longer be a challenge (we still have to look after them though). Well done Jodie!

Dedicated, or just mad?

Ladies A crew making the most of the rowing machines on a wet and windy day. Jacob's Ladder completed at 7am this morning.

Boat Building

Jodie has been adding to her already impressive list of skills this week at the Lyme Regis Marine Academy Boat Building Course. Today she has been mostly roving and clenching.

More than just a shed

We're very proud of our self-built gig shed; big enough for five gigs and a trailer, plus a mini-gym of five rowing machines, three spinning bikes and weights for land-based training when the Safety Officer advises us that if we take on the elements, we'd probably lose. Tony has recently done a fine job of fitting a new set of brackets for our ever increasing collection of blades.

Cattewater here we come!

It's not just our racing kit that needs to be washed, ironed and regatta-ready; we like our gigs to be smart too. The Maintenance Crew, under Jodie's guidance, were hard at it this morning making sure Pegasus looks great this weekend.
